Ours is an exceptional group of people who are from the community they serve and who possess a passion for their patients’ complete satisfaction. Both of our doctors reside in Collegeville and are dedicated to their community. Our staff has had a long work experience together. Their eagerness to assist you in all eyecare needs will be evident from your arrival at our office.
Tressa M. Malikkal, O.D., FCOVD | OPTOMETRIST, OWNER
Dr. Tressa Malikkal is the owner and operator of this multi-faceted eyecare practice in Trappe/Collegeville. She started the practice in the year 2000.
Dr. Malikkal received her optometric training at the Pennsylvania College of Optometry. She also completed a residency in Pediatric Vision Development at the State University of New York (SUNY). Additionally, she holds a Fellowship from the College of Optometrists in Vision Development (FCOVD).
She is closely involved in all aspects of patient care. This includes comprehensive eye examinations for all ages; contact lens services including specialty lenses and GVCR – gentle vision corneal reshaping – and cataracts and LASIK post-operative management; diagnoses and treatment of ocular disease; and emergency eyecare.

Sarah Wise O.D. | OPTOMETRIST
Sarah Wise attended Susquehanna University before completing her doctor of optometry at Pennsylvania College of Optometry. She grew up in central/upper Pennsylvania but has lived in Montgomery county for the past 12 years.
She is really excited to join Trappe Family Eyecare and practicing in such a multi faceted group. She looks forward to providing the personalized care for everyone’s vision needs.
When not at the office Dr. Wise loves spending time with her two young children. She also enjoys cooking and exercise.
Katherine LaClair | RECEPTIONIST
Katherine “Kate” LaClair has been with Trappe Family Eyecare since October of 2014, shortly after she and her family moved to the area from Broomall, PA. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Corporate Communications from Penn State University, and holds her Associates degree in Behavioral Sciences. Her responsibilities include: greeting and checking-in patients, scheduling and confirming appointments, verifying insurance coverage, and assisting with contact lens orders.

Barbara Pires | OFFICE MANAGER / OPTICIAN
Barbara Pires has worked at Trappe Family Eyecare for eight years. Her previous experience includes 35 years as an optician in a large optometrist office in Norristown, PA.
At Trappe Family Eyecare Ms. Pires manages staff, selects and purchases eyeglass frames, and fits patients with eyeglasses and contact lenses.

Diana Hartnett started working at Trappe Family Eyecare in September 2013. She studied Liberal Arts & Early Childhood Education at Montgomery County Community College. Diana has a background in teaching and childhood development. At the office she performs all pre-testing to prepare a patient for their eye exam.

Susie Ciaravino | OPTICIAN
Susie Ciaravino attended Erie Community College SUNY and graduated with an A.A.S. in Ophthalmic Dispensing in 2007, She is American Board of Opticians, and National Contact Lens Society certified. Susie is responsible for all areas of the optical department including dispensing glasses, ordering eyewear, interperting prescriptions, and eyewear sales. Susie relocated to Philadelphia from Buffalo, New York in 2013 and is very happy with the move. Susie has been with Trappe Family Eyecare since July 2015.

Bettyjane “Betsy” Charles | OPTICIAN
Bettyjane “Betsy” Charles joined Trappe Family Eye Care in May 2016 as an exam technician. She has over ten years optical experience in both a retail and private practice settings. She is certified by the American Board of Opticianry and is pursuing her advanced certification.
